Condominium communities have a similar balancing act, weighing the interests of the community at large versus the privacy concerns of the individual residents. There are clearly times when safety and security are paramount and the issues of privacy should be secondary.

I work as an independent security consultant in the Greater Toronto Area primarily for condominiums.

The above case albeit in BC is of particular interest to me and the discussions on how and where to use cameras - I found it surprising that the Adjudicator stated they should discontinue the use of the video surveillance system to provide access to resident units via television cable system and would like to follow up on this since it is highly used in the condominiums I have worked with.

My neighbor is on the board of our association. She has cameras pointing at my front door, with the approval of the board. She has taken pictures from the vidieo and has written letters and sent pictures of me in my open door, picking up my newspaper. The letters accuse me of "illegal activity". She is a paranoid women with a hatred of me that I can no longer tolerate. The board is only 3 people. Hopefully they will be replaced. However, in the meantime, she sent these pictures and letters to everyone in the building and even sent one to a new owner's northern address, certified. He called me and jokingly asked if I would autograph them for him.
This article speaks to emails, but what about the US mail. Isn't that even more agregious?
I am in the process of trying to find an attorney.
Thanks for listening,
Bev
